John Kerry’s memoir title revealed
The book, which is due out in September, is named for a phrase that Kerry and his closest friends use to sign off on emails and notes to one another, a source close to the former top diplomat told Axios.
The phrase “every day is extra” reportedly reflects Kerry’s attitude since returning from the Vietnam War. It indicates his determination to never waste a day.
“It’s a way of saying that we honor those we’ve lost by living for them, by living life in a way that values every minute,” the source told Axios.
The memoir will recount Kerry’s life from childhood through his service in Vietnam, in the Senate and as secretary of State.
As the nation’s top diplomat, Kerry played a key role in some of the Obama administration’s most significant foreign policy accomplishments, notably the Iran nuclear deal and the Paris climate accord.
“Every Day is Extra” will be published by Simon & Schuster.
