Poll: Republicans who think Trump doesn’t tell the truth still back him

The survey found that 76 percent of Republicans polled said they think Trump is truthful the majority of the time, while 22 percent of Republicans polled said he is truthful some of the time or less. 


Of the ones who said he is truthful some of the time or less, 56 percent said they still approve of Trump's work in the White House.

The poll found that 94 percent of Democrats and 76 percent of independents believed that Trump was telling the truth only some of the time or less, marking a stark contrast with Republicans.

Trump's approval rating currently sits at 45 percent, which is tied with his highest approval rating in that poll since the president took office in January 2017.

The NBC News/Survey Monkey poll was conducted on April 20-27 among 10,163 adults across the U.S. The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 1.2 percentage points.
