Former White House press secretary Sean SpicerSean Michael SpicerPress: It's time to bring back White House briefings Rapid turnover shapes Trump's government Pelosi gets under Trump's skin on impeachment MORE on Monday slammed Robert De Niro after the actor repeatedly said “f--- Trump” while speaking on stage at the Tony Awards.

“De Niro represents exactly what's going on in this country,” Spicer told Fox Business's Charles Payne on “Varney and Co,” referring to what he called the “hypocrisy of the left.”

“They want to call out the president for certain things and then they engage in the same behavior that they find reprehensible, except they do it in public, on public airways where every American can see and see just how deplorable they are,” he continued.

“It's amazing to me that this kind of behavior doesn't get called out on the left ... the way that they ... the 'holier than thou' attitude that they have when they call it out on the right,” he said.

Spicer's comments followed De Niro's address to the awards show in New York City on Sunday, which received a standing ovation.

“I’m going to say one thing: ‘F--- Trump,’” De Niro said on Sunday night. “It’s no longer ‘down with Trump,' it’s ‘f--- Trump.’”

The profanity was censored in the on-air broadcast.

De Niro has been one of Trump's most outspoken critics from the entertainment industry.

He has in the past referred to the president as a “baby in chief,” “jerkoff in chief” and “a f---ing idiot."
