At least one person was killed and another injured after a gunman opened fired inside a Mormon church in Nevada on Sunday.

The suspect opened fired in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) building in Fallon, Nev., about 60 miles east of Reno, KTVX News reported.

Police arrested John O’Connor, 48, at his home where he allegedly fled after the shooting.

Fallon Police Chief Kevin Gehman said investigators are still working to determine a motive but the attack does not appear to be an attack on the church but rather one person, the station reported.

“We have recently learned of a shooting in Fallon, Nevada, during a church service. Details are still developing, and inquiries should be directed to local law enforcement personnel,” LDS Church spokesman Eric Hawkins said in a statement.

“We express our love to those in this congregation and our prayers for the victims and their families. Local leaders are ministering to them at this time,” the statement said.
