Chelsea Clinton joins abortion rights event opposing Brett Kavanaugh
An abortion rights tour announced Friday that Chelsea Clinton will co-host its opening in New York to oppose Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court.
The “Rise Up for Roe tour” starts Saturday afternoon and kicks off a 10-city, 14-day coast-to-coast tour to “call out the threat to the constitutional right to safe, legal abortion that Kavanaugh’s nomination poses to women across the country,” a press release said.
The group is teaming up with the Demand Justice Initiative, NARAL Pro-Choice America and Planned Parenthood Action Fund.
Kavanaugh would replace Justice Anthony Kennedy, long considered to be the court’s swing vote, if he is confirmed to the court by the Senate. Kennedy voted to affirm the court’s Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion in the Planned Parenthood v. Casey decision of 1992.
Abortion rights groups fear that Kavanaugh could take a more conservative stance on abortion.
