A Miss America contestant said Friday that President TrumpDonald John TrumpAverage tax refunds down double-digits, IRS data shows White House warns Maduro as Venezuela orders partial closure of border with Colombia Trump administration directs 1,000 more troops to Mexican border MORE is the “biggest issue our country faces.”

Madeline Collins, Miss West Virginia, made the remark Friday when asked what she felt is the most serious issue facing the U.S. today.

"Donald Trump is the biggest issue our country faces," she said in response. "Unfortunately he has caused a lot of division in our country."

Collins did not go into detail as the interview responses are limited to 20 seconds, according to The Associated Press. Collins did not win the interview contest, the outlet noted.

Miss Massachusetts Gabriela Taveras won the interview segment of the pageant. Taveras was asked how Americans traveling abroad should interact with those in other countries. She responded that it is important to inform people in other nations that, “We as Americans are supporting them and that we are there to help them.”

The onstage interview replaced the swimsuit competition for this year's pageant, a move that prompted both backlash and praise when it was announced earlier this year.

Friday night marked the pageant’s final night of preliminary rounds in the Miss America competition.

Another Miss America contestant captured headlines for her response when she was asked what advice she would give NFL players on whether to kneel or stand for the national anthem.

Miss Virginia, Emili McPhail, said kneeling during the national anthem is “a right you have” and emphasized that national anthem protests were about bringing awareness to “police brutality.”

McPhail also won her preliminary round in the competition for her response.
