Taco Bell has fired an employee in Florida who refused to serve a customer this week because the woman was ordering in English.

The incident, which occurred at a Taco Bell in Hialeah, a suburb of Miami, was widely shared on social media.

Customer Alexandria Montgomery told local Fox affiliate WSVN that she was told "no habla ingles," which prompted her to ask for a manager.

The video then shows that the server told Montgomery to go to another Taco Bell location, and then called the police after she refused to leave.

“This does not meet our customer experience expectations. We have worked quickly to resolve with the customer to ensure this doesn’t happen again. The individual no longer works for the brand," Taco Bell said in a statement reported by CBS Miami.

The local community is primarily Hispanic, and 2010 census data indicates that 89 percent of residents in Hialeah speak Spanish as their first or second language.
