The third annual Women’s March is set to take place this January in Washington, D.C., returning to the site of the first demonstration in 2017.

March organizers told The New York Times that the main demonstration will be on Jan. 19, 2019, in Washington.

Linda Sarsour, an activist and one of the Women’s March founders, told the Times that the confirmation proceedings of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh prompted women to send emails inquiring about the next march.

“Our email inboxes were full: ‘Women’s March, where are you? When are we marching? Tell us when? Tell us where?’” Sarsour said.

{mosads}Opposition to Kavanaugh, who has been accused of sexual assault, has been a rallying issue for women nationwide in recent weeks.

The first march, which took place the day after President Trump’s inauguration, drew more than half a million people to Washington, D.C., with up to an estimated 5 million attending sister marches worldwide.

The following year, Women’s Marches again popped up nationwide, with thousands of women and supporters attending the main march in Las Vegas. The rally was titled “Power To The Polls.”

Sarsour told the Times that organizers hope to plan the 2019 march around a specific set of progressive public policies related to immigration and women’s rights.

The Women’s March and related activism has been credited as one of many factors contributing to a rise in the number of women candidates running for Congress and local office in the midterm elections.
