Old Trump tweet criticizing Cruz spotted on truck going around Texas

Twitter

A billboard truck has been spotted making the rounds in Texas bearing a photo of an old tweet from President Trump.

In the tweet from February 2016, then-candidate Trump criticizes Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who at the time was one of Trump’s rivals for the Republican presidential nomination.

“Why would the people of Texas support Ted Cruz when he has accomplished absolutely nothing for them,” Trump’s tweet reads.

The bottom of the advertisement reads, “Paid for by MadDogPac.com and USA Latinx.”

{mosads}According to KHOU, the advertisement was paid for by money raised by Houston-based Latino community organizer Antonia Arellano and Parkland, Fla., shooting survivor and gun control activist David Hogg.

A video Arellano shared on Monday shows the truck making its way around Houston. It has also reportedly been spotted in Arlington, Texas and Dallas.

The move comes as Cruz continues to face a tough reelection challenge from Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D).

Though Texas hasn’t elected a Democrat to the Senate in decades, a number of polls have pointed to a narrowing margin between both candidates.

Cruz leads O’Rourke by 4.5 percent in an average of recent polling, according to RealClearPolitics
