Students protesting Shapiro chant ‘John McCain’s dead’

A group of protesters outside Ben Shapiro’s speaking event at Ohio State University chanted “John McCainJohn Sidney McCainCindy McCain says no one in Republican Party carries 'voice of reason' after husband's death Anti-gun violence organization endorses Kelly's Senate bid McCain's family, McCain Institute to promote #ActsOfCivility in marking first anniversary of senator's death MORE’s dead” and “Reagan’s dead” in an apparent taunt aimed at the conservative commentator.

The protests were shown in a video shared by Federalist editor Emily Jashinsky.

Shapiro has drawn protests and sparked controversy at several events where he has spoken.

His event Tuesday at Ohio State was part of his ongoing campus tour, which is sponsored by conservative student group Young America’s Foundation.

Outside the auditorium where the event was held, protesters also chanted “f--- Ben Shapiro,” according to video from Lantern editor Edward Sutelan.

In response to hearing her late father’s name being used as a protest chant, Meghan McCain tweeted, “Hope all my followers join me in rooting for Michigan…#OSUsnowflakes.”

Ohio State has an athletic rivalry with the University of Michigan.

Similar protests at Shapiro’s speaking events turned violent last year at University of California, Berkley, resulting in significant damage to campus and multiple arrests.

Shapiro previously wrote for Breitbart News and is now the editor-in-chief of the Daily Wire.
