Obama attends UNC-Duke basketball game

Former president Barack Obama was is in attendance Wednesday night for the Duke vs. University of North Carolina basketball game in Durham, North Carolina.

Obama, known to be an avid basketball fan, visited Cameron Indoor Stadium as a spectator at one of the most popular college hoops match-ups of the season between the top-ranked Duke Blue Devils and eighth-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels.

He was seen at the game just before tipoff Wednesday night with Secret Security detail following him closely.

A number of other celebrities also attended Wednesday night’s game, including director Spike Lee and Ken Griffey Jr.

Speculation of Obama’s possible attendance swirled Tuesday and Wednesday.{mosads}

“If he comes, I’m going to be very excited,” Duke player R.J. Barrett told reporters, according to USA Today. “This is a legendary game. Many people want to watch. It’s going to be a great game.”

A cardboard cutout of former first lady Michelle Obama was also seen among Duke fans in the crowd.

Obama has also openly participated in March Madness speculation, picking the Tar Heels to win over Duke in the 2017 tournament. UNC defeated Gonzaga University in the championship game that year.
