CNN reporter: Fox hosts, guests ‘demonize’ Democrats

Fox News

CNN media reporter Brian Stelter panned Fox News for attacking Democrats after the Democratic National Committee (DNC) said Wednesday it would not permit the network to host a presidential primary debate.

“Yes, Fox has a news division. But Fox is mostly defined by its opinion division, where hosts and guests demonize Democrats from morning til night,” Stelter tweeted.

“And people at Fox know that. There was a town hall with [Hillary] Clinton and [Bernie] Sanders in 16, but Fox hasn’t held a Dem primary debate since 04,” he added.

DNC Chairman Tom Perez said in a statement Wednesday that he had held conversations with Fox News about potentially hosting a debate but pulled out of talks after a report from The New Yorker alleged close coordination between President Trump and the network.

{mosads}Former Fox executive Bill Shine is now the White House communications director, and the late Fox News founder Roger Ailes reportedly gave Trump advanced notice about questions in a 2016 Republican primary debate.

“Recent reporting in the New Yorker on the inappropriate relationship between President Trump, his administration and Fox News has led me to conclude that the network is not in a position to host a fair and neutral debate for our candidates. Therefore, Fox News will not serve as a media partner for the 2020 Democratic primary debates,” Perez said.

Fox News Senior Vice President and Managing Editor Bill Sammon said in a statement that he hoped the DNC would reconsider its decision.

The DNC has announced it will hold as many as 12 debates during the primary contest, including six in 2019.
