“After [Pelosi] walked in the door, Trump said, ‘I’ve gotta get Ivanka,’” according to the book. “When Ivanka eventually entered the room in the middle of the discussion, Trump said, ‘You know my daughter Ivanka. She’s like a Democrat.’”

The comment is similar to others reported in recent months. Ivanka Trump, who has been described as a “one-time Democrat,” is known to have tried to push a more moderate influence on her father’s policy, including pushing him to remain in the Paris climate deal.

But another new book on the Kushner family reported that Trump directed his former chief of staff John KellyJohn Francis KellyMORE to “get rid off” the pair of advisers and send them back to New York.
