Obama shares tribute to Michelle to celebrate Mother's Day

Former President Obama on Sunday marked Mother’s Day by sharing a tribute to the “perfect role model,” former First Lady Michelle ObamaMichelle LeVaughn Robinson ObamaMichelle Obama leads USA dodgeball against Corden's Team UK Michelle Obama to lead female celebrity dodgeball team in 'Late Late Show' face-off Obamas sign deal with Spotify to produce podcasts MORE.

"Happy Mother's Day to the most caring, brilliant, funny, and grounded woman I know—a perfect role model not just for our daughters, but so many others," Obama said in a Facebook post accompanied by a picture of Michelle with their daughters Malia and Sasha. 

Michelle Obama also marked the holiday by paying homage to her mother, Marian Robinson, with a post on Twitter. 


"From an early age, my mom saw that I had a flame inside me and she never tempered it," Michelle Obama said of her mom. " Mom, thank you for kindling that fire within me, and for your example as a mother and a grandmother to our girls.

"We would never be who we are today without you."
