Hundreds of couples take vows after Taiwan legalizes same-sex marriage

Hundreds of same-sex couples in Taiwan took vows on Friday, the day the country's new law to legalize gay marriage went into effect.


Taiwan became the first country in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage last week. The country had long battled over the issue.

Five hundred same-sex couples registered their marriages on Friday, according to Taiwan's Ministry of the Interior, reported The Associated Press
