Trump congratulates winning Indianapolis 500 team
President Trump congratulated Roger Penske Sunday for his team's victory in the Indianapolis 500.
Trump, tweeting from Japan amid a visit with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe over Memorial Day weekend, also gave a shout-out to winning driver Simon Pagenaud, who races for Penske's iconic team.
"Congratulations to the Great (and my friend) Roger Penske on winning his 18th (UNBELIEVABLE!) Indianapolis 500," Trump wrote. "I am in Japan, very early in the morning, but I got to watch Simon drive one of the greatest races in the history of the sport."
He added that he will "see them both, & TEAM, at the WH!"
Pagenaud defeated Alexander Rossi in a thrilling finish Sunday.
It was Pagenaud's first Indianapolis 500 victory and came as Penske celebrates the 50th anniversary of his first appearance at the historic track.
