Dictionary.com trolls CBS over photo referring to World Cup star Julie Ertz as a 'wife'

Dictionary.com in a post on Twitter Tuesday trolled CBS News for a tweet referring to Julie Ertz, a star player on the U.S. women's national soccer team, as the "wife" of NFL star Zach Ertz without including her name.

Quote-tweeting the original post from CBS News made Monday, which was widely ridiculed on social media, Dictionary.com wrote the definition of "husband."

"Husband. Noun. A married man, especially when considered in relation to his partner in marriage," it wrote, adding as an example, "Julie Ertz's husband has been watching her in the World Cup."

Several on social media Monday pointed out the sexism in the initial framing in the tweet from CBS News.

Zach Ertz did leave training camp with the Philadelphia Eagles early to travel to France to watch Julie Ertz compete in the Women's World Cup, in which the defending champion U.S. team entered as the favorite to win its fourth World Cup.

Ertz's team got in on the joke as well with a tweet of its own.
