A giant robot designed to look like President Trump tweeting while sitting on the toilet, which made its debut in London during the president’s recent visit, will follow the president to D.C. on July 4 to protest his “Salute to America” celebration.

Activists with Code Pink, which will be bringing the popular “Baby Trump” blimp to D.C. on Thursday to protest the president’s July Fourth event, said they also will bring the robot with them to protest the president’s “politicization of our national holiday” as well.

{mosads}“This 4th of July, CODEPINK will host a festival on the National Mall from 2-6 p.m. to protest the Trump administration’s politicization of our national holiday,” the group said in a release. “The anti-war organization will be featuring the Trump Baby Blimp, made famous in the UK, and a 16-foot Trump Robot sitting on a golden toilet, as well as lots of small Baby Trump balloons. The festival will also include stand-up comedy, a dance party, and an open mic for participants to bring attention to issues that are important to them.”

The group recently got approval to bring the “Baby Trump” blimp, which has been used by other groups to protest Trump across the world, to the White House area to protest Trump’s festivities. It will be joined by a 16-foot robot showing Trump sitting atop a golden toilet.

The demonstration comes as a number of Democrats have expressed concerns over the president’s politicization of the Fourth of July amid reports of the military’s involvement in the celebrations planned for Thursday, including planned tanks.

Trump is scheduled to give a speech from the Lincoln Memorial and has brought in tanks and ordered military plane flyovers for the event.  

Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin said in a statement that the group wants to “celebrate the power we have as Americans to work toward peace” and accused the president of “shifting the 4th of July festivities to celebrate his administration and to glorify war.”

Ariel Gold, the co-director of the organization, also said in a statement that she finds it “very alarming to see Trump turn a traditionally nonpartisan celebration into a Trump rally and a military spectacle.” 

“It’s absolutely shameful that money is being spent to divide this country even further, and to legitimize the violence of war when so many Americans don’t have access to basic healthcare,” she continued.

Members of D.C.’s local government have also pushed back on military involvement in the celebration.

“We have very few occasions where people can just, like, celebrate our country without it turning into a partisan food fight,” Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) said of the scheduled event.

“I also have some concerns about a president not celebrating the military but glorifying military might,” Bowser added. “That scares me the most.”
