Ex-Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel joins ABC News as contributor

ABC News confirmed Sunday that former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel (D) has joined the network as a contributor.
The news network made the announcement during a brief on-air segment.
Emanuel served as mayor from 2011 to 2019, opting not to run for reelection amid controversy over his handling of the killing of African American teen Laquan McDonald, for which a police officer was eventually convicted of second-degree murder.
{mosads}He also served as White House chief of staff under then-President Obama from 2009 to 2010, and served in Congress from 2003 to 2009.
After leaving office, he also accepted positions as a “contributing editor” to The Atlantic and joined the investment banking firm Centerview Partners.
After leaving office, Emanuel was reportedly in talks to join MSNBC or CNN as a contributor. He is reportedly represented by William Morris Endeavor, where his brother Ari Emanuel serves as co-CEO.
