Three-quarters of college students back impeachment inquiry: poll

More than three-quarters of college students support House Democrats in their impeachment inquiry into President TrumpDonald John TrumpNew Biden campaign ad jabs at Trump's reported 0 income tax payments Ocasio-Cortez: Trump contributed less in taxes 'than waitresses and undocumented immigrants' Third judge orders Postal Service to halt delivery cuts MORE, according to a poll released Tuesday.

The Axios/College Reaction Poll found that 76 percent of college students surveyed say they support the inquiry, a more than 20-point jump from 52 percent who said the same in late May.


The results were divided heavily along party lines, as 97 percent of students who identified as Democrats said they supported the investigation while only 22 percent who identified as Republicans said the same. Among students identifying as independent, 76 percent said they support the probe.

Researchers surveyed 850 students between Oct. 8-10. The results have a margin of error of 3.3 percentage points.

Trump has since publicly asked Ukraine and China to investigate the Bidens.

The president has denied any wrongdoing in the requests and has blasted the inquiry as a “witch hunt.”

Other polling in recent weeks also has a majority or plurality of Americans supporting the inquiry.
