'Grandma Winnie' trends on Twitter after video shows woman call for Trump's impeachment for her birthday
Critics of President Trump drove "Grandma Winnie" into Twitter's list of trending items on Tuesday after a video went viral showing a woman saying she wanted President Trump to be impeached for her birthday.
In the clip making the rounds online, the woman, who identifies herself as "Grandma Winnie," says she's 100 years old and that "all I want for my birthday is for someone to impeach this sucker."
At the end of the short video, the woman tosses a "Make America Great Again" cap she was holding throughout the clip off to the side.
The video drew viral praise from some critics of the president as House Democrats pursue an impeachment inquiry against him.
Indecline, which is an anarchist collective based on the West Coast, according to The Associated Press, first posted the clip on Instagram on Monday. The group told The Hill that it captured the footage of Winnie, who it said "has been with INDECLINE since its inception and vehemently opposes Trump, his administration and policies."
In another photo of Winnie the group provided to The Hill on Tuesday, she could be seen holding a lit flame underneath the "Make America Great Again" cap.
The group, which describes itself as an "activist art collective" on its website, was founded in 2001 and made headlines in the months leading up to the 2016 presidential election after it unveiled naked statues depicting Trump in cities across the U.S. According to The Washington Post, the group put the statues in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Cleveland at the time.
