A woman was arrested in the Los Angeles area after her three children were found dead inside an apartment.

The Los Angeles Police Department said on Facebook that it has taken 30-year-old Liliana Carrillo into custody in the Ponderosa area of Tulare County.

The Department said it responded to a call at 9:30 a.m. about a possible death inside an apartment. Officers went inside the residence and found three children.

LA City Fire Department pronounced the children dead at the scene, authorities said. The children all appeared to be under the age of five years old.

After the department reported that it was looking for her, law enforcement said on Twitter that they received reports that Carrillo had committed a carjacking in the Bakersfield area.

The department confirmed on Twitter that Carrillo is the mother of the three children, and is considered the sole suspect in the case.

Los Angeles Police Lt. Raul Jovel told the Associated Press that the children’s grandmother found the children’s bodies and that Carrillo was missing when she returned home from work.

The cause of death has yet to be determined, as well as a motive. However, Jovel told the news outlet that initial reports suggested that the children were stabbed to death.
