Three million euros, equal to more than $3.4 million dollars, worth of Nazi memorabilia was found in Brazil in the home of an alleged pedophile, police said on Wednesday.
Rio de Janeiro police say they went to serve an arrest warrant for a man, who was unnamed, accused of raping a minor and abusing other children, Reuters reported.
When they got to the home, police discovered images of Adolf Hitler, flags, guns and ammunition from the era, Nazi insignias and uniforms, paintings and periodicals. There were more than 1,000 items in the home.
The 59-year-old suspect comes from a wealthy family with police believing he used his inheritance to gather the collection, according to Reuters.
Police are investigating if the man was still on the market for more Nazi memorabilia.
"He is a smart guy and articulate, but he's a Holocaust denier, he's homophobic, he's a pedophile and he says he hunts homosexuals," lead detective Luis Armond told Reuters. "I'm no doctor, but he seems to me an insane psychopath."
The police are looking for a museum to give the items to.
Along with suspected pedophilia, the man was charged with racial discrimination and illegal possession of a weapon.
