Senate Finance Committe Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) said the draft of his panel's healthcare bill released today doesn't include a public-option component for one sole reason - a lack of Senate support, either in his committee or the chamber as a whole.

"It would not pass the full Senate," Baucus told The Hill when asked why his draft prefers insurance co-ops. "There are not enough votes in the Senate for a public option."
