Spanx founder gives employees plane tickets, $10K to celebrate company's sale

Spanx founder Sara Blakely gave her employees two first-class plane tickets and $10,000 to spend on the trip to celebrate her company's billion-dollar deal.

Blakely posted the video of her telling employees about the gifts, as well as the deal with investment management group Blackstone, on Instagram last week.

"This is a very big moment for each and every one of you," Blakely said in the video. "To celebrate this moment, I have bought each one of you two first-class tickets to anywhere in the world."

Employees in the video listed Japan, Croatia, South Africa and Antarctica among the destinations where they plan to take their trips. One woman said she will use the tickets for her honeymoon in Bora Bora, and one man said he plans to fly to Sweden to elope with his girlfriend.

"I really want every employee to celebrate this moment in their own way and create a memory that will last them a lifetime! Cheers to 21 years of magic and many more to come," Blakely wrote in an Instagram caption.

Blackstone's majority stake in Spanx now values the company at $1.2 billion, CNBC reported. The company, which is known for its shape wear, will expand into denim and other forms of clothing.
