Owens and Hill say ‘yes,’ Barrow a ‘no’ as undecideds list shrinks
The list of undecided lawmakers on healthcare dwindled further Saturday as three lawmakers announced their positions.
Reps. Bill Owens (D-N.Y.) and Baron Hill (D-Ind.) said they would vote for healthcare legislation this weekend, while Rep. John Barrow (D-Ga.) said he would vote against it.
The two lawmakers’ positions are unchanged from the November vote the House took on its own healthcare bill.
The announcements reflect the dwindling number of undecided members left as leaders in both parties whip votes furiously ahead of a planned Sunday vote on healthcare.
Democrats need 216 votes to pass their healthcare legislation. The Hill’s whip count tallies the number of undecideds as of late Saturday morning at 34 Democratic lawmakers.
