Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.) compared the GOP to the Taliban today in an effort to rally Creigh Deeds's base on election day.

"I mean, if the Republicans were running in Afghanistan, they'd be running on the Taliban ticket as far as I can see," Moran told a crowd of Deeds's supporters in Fairfax County.

Moran was trying to portray GOP candidates--Bob McDonnell for Governor, Ken Cucinelli for Attorney General and Bill Bolling for re-election as Lt. Gov.-- as extreme right-wingers.

A McDonnell campaign spokesperson called the comments "vicious."

But wait! There's more:

This is not the first time McDonnell has been compared to the Taliban; in 2003, a liberal columnist for the Daily Press of Newport News dubbed him "Taliban Bob" for his role in ousting a female Circuit Court judge who had been accused by another woman of sexual harassment.
