California Lt. Gov. John Garamendi (D) won the other special House election Tuesday and will replace former Rep. Ellen Tauscher (D-Calif.).

Garamendi was a heavy favorite heading into Election Day in a race that hasn't garnered much national attention. Tauscher, who took a post in the State Department, left behind a heavily Democratic district in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Garamendi led Republican businessman David Harmer 56-40 with 29 percent of precincts reporting. AP has called the race for Garamendi.
