Tennessee gubernatorial candidate Roy Herron (D) wasted no time switching races to run for Congress after Rep. John Tanner's (D-Tenn.) retirement announcement Tuesday night.
Herron, a state senator and attorney, immediately told the Associated Press that he will now seek the seat of Tanner. Herron was one of five candidates running for governor.
"In the morning, instead of campaigning in 95 counties, I'll be focused on the counties in the 8th Congressional District," Herron said.
Another Democrat apparently interested is former state Rep. Phillip Pinion.
