It's looking more and more like a crowded primary field could be Rep. Henry Brown's (R-S.C.) biggest ally.

Attorney Mark Fava this week became the latest GOPer to run against Brown, joining Tumpy Campbell and two other contenders.

Campbell, the son of former Gov. Carroll Campbell (R), is seen as a potentially tough challenger for the incumbent, who is in his in his fifth term and is about to turn 74. But Fava, who is the son of a former Charleston County commissioner and city councilman, could split up the anti-incumbent vote.

Democrats could also target the race after losing to Brown just 52-48 last year, but a strong candidate has yet to emerge from a field of three candidates on their side.
