Senate Democrats will not be sending a delegation to the climate talks in Copenhagen, Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) said yesterday.

Kerry, a leading Democratic voice on climate change, told colleagues that the healthcare schedule would keep the delegation in DC during the talks.

"It doesn’t look like we’re going--not as a delegation,” Kerry said yesterday, according to the NY Times.  "Harry needs the people here on health care."

But Kerry himself will still attend the summit, his office confirmed. The Massachusetts Democrat is a co-sponsor of the Senate climate bill, along with Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.)

President Obama will head to Copnehagen on December 18th.
