Rep. Baron Hill (D-Ind.) insists he's running for reelection next year, but he's also eyeing a run for governor in 2012.

Hill confirmed his deliberations to the AP. A popular former high school basketball star in the state, he has served two different stints in the House after losing reelection in 2004 and winning his seat back in 2006.

Republicans have yet to land a top-flight challenger against Hill for 2010, though GOP candidate Todd Young is a part of the NRCC's Young Guns program for challengers. If the GOP can pose a strong challenge to Hill, though, it could force him to decide whether he wants to risk another loss that could hamstring his statewide ambitions.

Blue Dogs like Hill have seen some tough polling numbers in 2009, and though he won reelection easily last year, his district went 50-48 for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).

Popular Gov. Mitch Daniels (R) will be term-limited in 2012, and Indiana is expected to play host to a top governor's race.
