Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Pat Leahy (D-Vt.) announced today that his committee will hold hearings on the security lapses that led the failed Christmas Day airline attack.

The hearing, scheduled for January 20, will focus on anti-terrorism efforts and inter-agency communication. In the wake of the attack, it was widely reported that government agencies didn't sufficiently share information they had about Umar Farouk Abdulmuttallab, the would-be bomber.

The Judiciary Committee has jurisfidiction over the FBI, DOJ, and portions of the Homeland Security Department.
