Former Sen. Alan Simpson (R-Wyo.) says Republicans are guilty of "hypocrisy" for criticizing the sitmulus while soliciting funds for their district.

The Wyoming Republican, who President Obama appointed to his newly-created fiscal commission, told Bloomberg that the GOP is selective in its condemnation of the $787 billion package.

“It’s the original sin of Washington--it’s hypocrisy,” he said. “You can’t do that then say you go out and cut the other stuff.”

Democrats think they've found a winning argument in portraying Republicans as hypocrites. The GOP has responded that as long as the money is being spent, there's nothing wrong with seeking funds for their districts.
