Public support for closing Guantanamo Bay has fallen significantly since President Obama took office, a new CNN poll finds.

Just before Obama was inaugurated, 51% of respondents favored closing the facility. Now, after steady controversy about where to send prisoners and how to try them, support has dropped to 39%.

The White House is reportedly negotiating with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) to develop a compromise plan to close the facility.
