"I have worked with and admired each member of this team," Biden said. "Each has a clear understanding of the forces that are shaping this new century."

Detailing threats from terrorism, energy shortage, and a host of other issues, Biden cited the "extraordinary" challenges that the new administration will face come January.

"The president-elect has assembled a national security team that is poised to recapture the totality of America's strength," Biden said.
