Biden's spokeswoman, Elizabeth Alexander, released a statement saying Biden's mother, Catherine Eugenia "Jean" Biden, was admitted to the University of Pennsylvania hospital.

"She is currently receiving treatment and is in good spirits," Alexander said of the 91 year-old.

The vice president is scheduled to spend tomorrow morning in Wilmington, Del., and then return to Washington, D.C., in the afternoon, according to the White House's daily guidance email.
