Rahm Emanuel, President-elect Barack Obama's chief of staff, will meet with House and Senate Republican leaders today on Capitol Hill, according to Obama's transition team.

Emanuel will discuss how Republicans and the White House can best work together, and he will assure them "that the White House will be open at all times for them," according to the transition team's press office.

Emanuel's reputation as a partisan warrior quickly earned him criticism when he was named as Obama's chief of staff, the as Republican lawmakers warned he would hinder the GOP's efforts at working with the new administration.
