This event is significant for a couple of reasons:

First, the military has finally acknowledged that these men are entitled to representation from counsel. We've been trying to meet with our client for over a year and anticipate our request to see him will finally be granted.

Our client, in particular, was held in CIA secret detention for three years and now at Guantanamo for one year without any access to an attorney even though he has asylum status and lives in the U.S. We've been very concerned about what kinds of interrogation methods he's been exposed to and the denial of his most basic rights.
