House Dems slam Limbaugh for ‘slut’ remarks
“She wants to be paid to have sex. She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception,” Limbaugh was quoted as saying.
{mosads}On the floor Thursday morning, Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) said women should call on Century 21, Quicken Loans, LegalZoom and other companies that advertise with Limbaugh to pull their ads from the show, or boycott the companies if that isn’t successful.
“Ninety-eight percent of the women in this country at some time in their lives use birth control,” Speier said. “And yet he went on the air recently and called Sandra Fluke a slut and a prostitute because she was trying to access birth control pills as a third-year law student at Georgetown.”
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) also rejected Limbaugh’s comments, and challenged Limbaugh to invite her and other women on the show to talk about this issue. Barring that, Jackson Lee said, “I would challenge all the women of the House, let’s try to dial that number, and let’s see if we can provide some light on this topic.”
