Outspoken Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann (Minn.) used her last chance to address the House prior to the vote to repeal last year’s health care legislation to declare that the plan is the crown jewel of socialism and predicted that Republican’s will “repeal” the current president and current Senate.

“Obamacare, as we know, is the crown jewel of socialism,” said Bachmann. “It is socialized medicine.”

Bachmann added that she does not believe the vote would be symbolic, as Democrats have said, but that it would have meaning.

"To those across the United States who think this may be a symbolic act, we have a message for them: this is not symbolic,” said Bachmann. “This is why we were sent here and we will not stop until we repeal a president and put a president in the White House who will repeal this bill, until we repeal the current Senate, put in a Senate that will listen to the American people and repeal this bill.”

Meanwhile Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) countered that the vote was merely symbolic.

“The Republicans have, as they had a right to do, kept their promise to their constituents to repeal the bill,” Frank told The Hill after the vote.  Frank added that he does not believe the bill will go anywhere in the Senate.
