House passes bill aimed at boosting foreign direct investment in the U.S.

{mosads}Rep. Lee Terry (R-Neb.) said his bipartisan bill is needed because the U.S. share of FDI fell from 41 percent in 1999 to just 17 percent in 2011. He said increased investment in the United States would help lead to more job creation.

The House also passed H.R. 2844, the Federal Communications Commission Consolidation Reporting Act, which consolidates several FCC reports on the state of the marketplace. Members passed this bill 415-0.

Both were brought up under a suspension of House rules, which requires a two-thirds majority vote for passage.
