But on Friday, Cantor's office released a schedule that did not include the spending bill, H.R. 2410.

The House Rules Committee is scheduled to meet on Tuesday to approve a rule for two energy bills and the agriculture spending bill, a sign that the latter bill may be considered by the House soon after the July 4 week.

An aide to Cantor indicated to The Hill that work on the spending bill would occur shortly, just not next week.

"The committee continues to work toward a responsible agriculture appropriations measure but next week the House will be focused on lowering energy costs for working families suffering under the increased costs brought on by Obama administration regulations and overreach," the aide said.
