Schumer introduces comprehensive immigration reform bill

{mosads}The bipartisan group of eight senators, called the Gang of Eight, unveiled a their immigration reform bill Tuesday. The plan would create a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants already in the country, toughen border security, create a guest worker program and boost high-skilled immigration.

Sens. Schumer, Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), John McCain (R-Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and Michael Bennet (D-Co.) are the Gang of Eight.

Some GOP senators have complained that the Senate is rushing immigration reform and not allowing enough input from all members.

The Senate isn’t expected to move forward on immigration reform until it completes business on gun-control legislation, which could continue into next week.
