Reid: House Republicans have ‘lost their minds’

Reid’s comments came minutes after the House voted again for an amendment to add restrictions on ObamaCare to the continued spending resolution (CR). Earlier Monday, the Senate voted to strip House amendments aimed at delaying ObamaCare implementation and they are expected to do it again tonight.

{mosads}The House’s latest attempt to derail parts of the law is an amendment that would fund the government through mid-December, but delays the individual mandate and forces top government officials to use ObamaCare. The amendment also forces congressional staff to pay all of their healthcare expenses after entering the healthcare exchanges.

Reid said Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) would be to blame if the government shuts down because he hasn’t allowed an up-or-down vote on the Senate’s clean CR.

“John Boehner, let the House work its will,” Reid said. “Clearly a Republican shutdown is what they want and the responsibility will rest squarely on his shoulders as every American knows.”

Lawmakers need to reach an agreement by midnight on legislation to fund the government otherwise it will shutdown.

“I think this is what they want,” Reid said. “Remember they don’t believe in government, so what’s a good way to really hurt government  — shut it down.”
