Senate recognizes national chess week as it prepares for weekend work

{mosads}Through unanimous consent agreements Friday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) passed resolutions, including S.Res. 266, which designates Oct. 7-13 National Chess Week.

The Senate also passed two transportation-related bills, H.R. 3095 and H.R. 1848.

Last month, the House passed H.R. 3095, which requires the federal government to go through a formal rule-making process before requiring all truck drivers to be tested for obstructive sleep apnea. That bill now heads to President Obama’s desk for his signature.

The Senate amended H.R. 1848, which directs the Federal Aviation Administration to advance the safety of small airplanes by reorganizing the certification requirements to streamline the approval of safety advancements. That measure passed in the House this summer, but will be sent back to the House because of the minor Senate changes.
