The Senate could move to a vote on final passage on the bill later in the day if an agreement is reached but that outcome is far from certain and at least one senator suggested from the floor on Wednesday that the debate could leak into next week.

The Currency Exchange Rate Oversight Reform Act of 2011, S. 1619, is designed to pressure the Chinese government to stop undervaluing its currency.

The bill is expected to do well in the Senate during Thursday's vote after it garnered strong support in a procedural vote on Monday. Regardless of the timeline for that legislation the Senate will almost certainly adjourn on Thursday evening to accommodate the Yom Kippur holiday which begins at sunset on Friday and to extend the Columbus Day weekend as well.
