Senate passes bill to speed up FOIA requests
The legislation would create a commission to examine the causes of agency delays in processing FOIA requests and would suggest steps to help eliminate backlogs, according to a statement released by the author of the legislation, Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.).
The Faster FOIA Act of 2011, or S.627, has been sent to the House for consideration.
