'Sharknado' smells blood of political cameos?

Lawmakers may be in the eye of a killer, shark-filled tornado — the makers behind “Sharknado 3” are reportedly aiming to cast members of Congress in the upcoming made-for-TV flick.

The team behind the third installation of the TV movie — known for its celeb cameos and its cult-like fan following — is reaching out to publicists for their help in getting in touch with recognizable faces in Washington, Politico reports. Former Secretary of State Colin Powell and political commentator Oliver North are among those cited as being targeted for the campy disaster series.

The latest iteration of “Sharknado” is poised to take place in the nation’s capital, the SyFy network announced last year.

SyFy would only confirm some casting decisions to ITK. Among them, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban will play a fictional president, and conservative author and commentator Ann Coulter will show off her acting chops as the country's fictional vice president.

In January, one of the movie’s stars, Tara Reid, said on a radio show she was “sure” the third “Sharknado” would “have to get some political people definitely involved.” Reid said at the time, “Do I think we’re going to get Barack ObamaBarack Hussein ObamaCPAC, all-in for Trump, is not what it used to be Americans have decided to give professionals a chance Artist behind golden Trump statue at CPAC says he made it in Mexico MORE? I doubt it, but you never know.”
