According to TMZ, Jenner put the hat on prior to a golf outing, but did not realize it was the signature hat sported by Trump supporters.

"I apologize to all of the trans community. I made a mistake. I will never do it again and I'm getting rid of the hat,” the Olympic gold medalist and transgender activist told the entertainment news website.

Jenner, who voted for Trump and has been a longtime outspoken Republican, slammed the president last month after he called for a ban on transgender individuals serving in the United States military.

“There are 15,000 patriotic transgender Americans in the US military fighting for all of us. What happened to your promise to fight for them?” Jenner wrote on Twitter following Trump’s call for the ban.
